Headstone is proud to open Before Castles, a two-person exhibition of contemporary fiber with Courtney Dudley and Ishraq Zraikat. Dudley showcases her natural-dyed silk, blooming flora – a series of lush, pillowy works, using freeform quilting techniques that feel relaxed, yet alive. Zraikat’s patient, mathematical approach enunciates an alchemical methodology in her wool, tapestry-like paintings. Rather than rescue, Before Castles reintroduces the topic of wonder and open exploration as animals; demarcation isn’t possible and ownership is irrelevant.
