Ishraq was commissioned by artist Ghada Kunash, founder of The Workshop Dubai, to hand weave a 175 x 175 cm tapestry representing the natural topography of the Levant region. The tapestry was the first edition of ‘BSAT’ Beyond Sustainability of Artisanal Traditional Industries and a collaborative art piece between a number of artisans across the map represented in the tapestry. Ishraq hand wove the topographic map and base for the tapestry, and artisans in Beirut- Lebanon added handmade floral and plant embellishments onto the map, representing several different textile and fiber art techniques.
