‘Raw Embrace’ is a woven and felted textile sculpture which is currently exhibited at Design Doha Biennale 2024 and part of the ‘Arab Design Now’ exhibition curated by Rana Beiruti. The piece measures 190 x 550 cm and is made of a goat hair and sheep’s wool woven black base textile, and Awassi sheep’s wool felted into the woven base. Tapestry weaving and felting are two techniques, combined seamlessly in this piece, demonstrating the material and visual qualities of Jordanian Awassi wool in various stages of processing from raw fleece all the way to spun yarn.
